The term Lido is from the name of a place in Venice where Bathing took place. They usually have areas for sunbathing - watching, and eating and are designed for activities around water.
This description embraces everything that is available to the swimmer and spectator at Ware Priory Lido. Built in 1934, The Lido is a heated open air pool which is open this year from July to September. It was substantially altered in the 1970s with new changing rooms. Situated in the grounds of Ware Priory, the Lido comprises a 30m (approximately) Main Pool and a Teaching Pool. Fully qualified RLSS Pool Lifeguards and a First Aider are on duty at all times.
A refreshment kiosk with access from both the Lido and neighbouring Priory Park offers a wide selection of hot & cold food and drinks, confectionery and of course ice cream

Children under the age of 8 years will not be admitted unless accompanied by, and under the constant supervision of, an adult swimming. Only 2 under 8 year olds per adult. We recommend that non/weak swimmers wear armbands at all times in or around the pools.

2010 Lido Charges
Charges are payable for admission to premises regardless of
activity undertaken i.e. no separate rate for spectators.
Junior
Proof may be required, in its absence and when in
question the Adult rate will apply.
Concession
Over 60s and UB40 holders & doctors’ referrals only,
please provide proof.

Hire
Why not hire the Lido for a party, summer BBQ or club fun swim? The Lido is available for hire from
7.30 p.m. weekdays or 6.30 p.m. weekends.
One fully qualified Lifeguard is included in the hire fee, however additional lifeguards may be required for more than 25 swimmers – please check with the Manager.

Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons for children of all swimming abilities are held weekday mornings between 9.00 and 10.30 a.m. during part of the school holidays. Each lesson lasts for 1/2 hour and is conducted by a fully qualified ASA or STA swimming instructor. Rest assured the water is heated to a minimum of 80 degrees F.
