Commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day at Ware Priory on May 8

Join us at Ware Priory to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday, 8th May, between 6pm – 9:30pm.

We will unite as a nation to commemorate eight decades of peace following the end of World War II in Europe. The evening will start with a special flag ceremony at 6:25pm, followed by lively entertainment from SwingdanceUK. The Swing Time Jivers will be leading the dancing, encouraging the audience to join in, so brush up on your Lindy Hop and Jitterbug!

Come hungry and enjoy delicious fish and chips from OceanTree, a Hertfordshire-based caterer using sustainable and freshly made ingredients. Gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options will be available.

Take in performances by the Miss Jones jazz band. The band specialise in the sounds of jazz and swing from 1930’s-60’s, with a slight influence of old American rhythm and blues. With an eclectic mix of vintage music that appeals to all audiences.

Families can get creative with free activities, including Spitfire crafts with Ware Museum and bunting-making fun. Plus, take the opportunity to see a fabulous rare 1937 Morris 8 classic car named Molly!

The evening will end with a special beacon lighting ceremony. Free entry, everyone welcome.
